Tools of the Trade

Hammer + Knockdown

A dent often creates high spots around the indentation, where the metal has buckled outward. These tools have rubber tips that are used to gently push those high spots back down to level.

Reflector

This can be a light, or a board with lines painted on it. A skilled technician can use the reflection of the lines on the car to better see where the dent is, and to be sure that the entire dent is removed during the repair.

Bar + Rubber Tips

A variety of shaped tips can be screwed onto the end of this long-handled tool, which is used to push dents out from the backside of a panel where more traditional tools are unable to reach.

Glue Pull

Special paint-safe adhesive can be applied to tabs that are placed into the dent. A technician can then attach a dent lifting jig to the tab in order to get the leverage to pull a dent back out, before removing the glue and revealing a perfect repair.
