Understanding Lease-End Dent Charges

How Dealers Charge for Dents

When you return a leased vehicle, the dealership inspects it for "excessive wear and tear." Their definition of "excessive" is often strict.

Common dealer charges:

  • Small door ding (quarter-sized): $150-$300 each
  • Medium dent (baseball-sized): $400-$700 each
  • Large dent or crease: $800-$1,500 each
  • Multiple dents on same panel: $1,000-$2,500 for panel replacement

These charges go directly to your bill - you don't get a choice of where the repair is done.

How PDR Saves You Money

Paintless dent repair typically costs 50-70% less than dealer charges because we don't repaint.

Example Savings:

3 door dings
Dealer: $600-$900
PDR: $200-$350
1 medium dent + 2 small dings
Dealer: $800-$1,300
PDR: $350-$550
Hail damage (10-15 dents)
Dealer: $2,500-$4,000
PDR: $800-$1,500

We come to you: Schedule your PDR before the dealer inspection. Most repairs done in under an hour at your location.

Best Timing for Lease-End Dent Repair

🟢

2-4 Weeks Before

Best option. Plenty of time to schedule mobile PDR, get repairs done, and still have buffer before your inspection.

You can drive the vehicle worry-free after repairs without risking new damage before turn-in.

🟡

1 Week Before

Still workable. We can usually accommodate same-week appointments, but scheduling flexibility is limited.

Less buffer time if additional damage is found during our inspection.

🔴

Day Before/Day Of

Risky. We may not have availability, and you'll be rushed making decisions about which dents to fix.

Better to plan ahead and avoid last-minute stress.

Pro Tip: Schedule Early

Text us photos 3-4 weeks before your lease ends. We'll give you an honest assessment of what needs fixing and what the dealer might overlook. You decide which repairs make financial sense.

What Dealers Look for During Lease Inspections

They WILL Charge You For:

  • • Any dent larger than a credit card
  • • Multiple small dings on the same panel
  • • Dents on horizontal surfaces (hood, roof, trunk)
  • • Door dings visible when doors are closed
  • • Creases or sharp dents
  • • Hail damage of any size

They Usually Won't Charge For:

  • • Dents smaller than a dime (brand-dependent)
  • • Rock chips in the windshield (unless cracked)
  • • Minor scratches that don't reach primer
  • • Normal wear on interior (within reason)
  • • Tire tread above minimum depth
  • • Minor curb rash on wheels (varies by brand)
